The Juno Awards - April 1, 2012 in Ottawa
Last sunday my friend and I drove to Ottawa for the 2012 Juno Awards. We went as seat fillers so in total all we paid was $11 for parking. It was the best $11 ever spent.
As a seat filler your job is to move around or go where they need people to fill in to make the venue look full for the show. After lots of waiting we finally got down to some seats where they told us that they needed more people for the floor. We got to go on the floor and were pretty close to the stage.
My favourite part of the night was seeing Simple Plan perform. They received the 2012 Allan Waters Humanitarian Award for all of their amazing charity work. Through the creation of the Simple Plan Foundation they have done so much. They really deserve the award and being a fan for so long I feel so proud of how far they have come since the beginning. As always they gave an amazing performance of Summer Paradise and K'Naan, who is featured on one of the versions, came out and sang it with them.
My other favourite performances were Hedley, Nickelback and Deadmau5. I love Hedley and they always have a great performance. I've never seen Nickelback before so it was really cool to get to see them perform. They have so many good songs and it was an awesome performance. Deadmau5 ended the show with a great performance where Lights performed Raise Your Weapon with him. She sounded perfect on the song and everyone on the floor got cute little Deadmau5 ears.
Loving music as much as I do it was amazing to be on the floor at this years Juno Awards.
The performers included Alyssa Reid, Anjulie, Blue Rodeo, Dallas Green, Deadmau5, Dragonette, Feist, Hedley, Hey Rosetta, JRDN, K'Naan, Lights, Mia Martina, MC Flipside, Nickelback, Sarah McLachlan and Simple Plan.
Here's a video from the show of Simple Plan performing 'Summer Paradise' with K'Naan
